Part Time Police Officer Job Description
The Town of Beacon Falls, Connecticut is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Police Officers. This position is responsible for law enforcement work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The position responds to calls for service, patrols assigned areas and enforces criminal traffic laws and town ordinances. The job involves investigating crimes and vehicle accidents and assisting other Federal, State, and Local Agencies. The work consists of routine patrol tasks that involve personal responsibility for the enforcement of all laws and ordinances and the protection of lives and property.
The requirements of the applicant’s work schedule include:
Working two 8-hour weekend shifts per month (Saturday or Sunday).
Working at least six 8-hour shifts each month.
All applicants must meet the minimum requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Have a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License, and be mentally and physically fit to perform the duties of a Police Officer, and be a citizen of the United States
Must hold valid State of Connecticut POST (Police Officer) certification, which must be current at the time of appointment and maintain certification during employment
Must have been employed and certified as a Police Officer in the State of Connecticut, AND NOT have had more than two years of separation from a law enforcement unit
Must be able to meet and maintain throughout employment established physical, medical and psychological requirements
Possess and maintain a valid Connecticut driver's license
